Tasfreight was established in Devonport, Tasmania in 1984 to provide a fast freight service between Tasmania and Melbourne. From humble beginnings, Tasfreight has now grown to incorporate seven transport depots (Devonport, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide). Originally geared to handle fresh fruit and vegetables, Tasfreight now caters for all types of cargoes.
Tasmanian owned company and one of the very few freight forwarders who is not controlled by a Multinational. Tasfreight currently employs in excess of 200 permanent staff and over 40 subcontractors.
The Latrobe depot is a large freight hub for Tasmanian freight. There are multiple sheds across the site, some housing dangerous goods. The old lighting was exposed and susceptible to breaking. This posed a risk for dangerous and flammable goods. It was necessary to upgrade to safe lighting, that would offer a safe working environment for the employees.
